O'Grady's father is Jim O'Grady. Her mother, Jan, was a financial planner. Her parents raised her in Wheaton (Illinois) as well. She was a graduate of the North High School in Wheaton. She appeared in a few commercials prior to moving into Los Angeles in 1986. Her career O'Grady started her career as models for Montgomery Ward, and well making several commercials.
